Gaming | OpenGL via eBrainPool

This proved to be an interesting test, running an opengl game. We were not fully sure how this would behave, owing the way ebrain works. It does not simply stream the display between the machines. What did suprise us to be a bit honest, is the perfomance we started to see in applications which do use opengl such as this game. While deciding on the technical design, we did choose a to go with X as the underlying technology for screen capture and display for one, using a more speed oriented cipher in the SSH (secure shell) implentation we use to name a few, hoping to reduce the any impact on the speed. We are sure that this can be improved further still, its early days yet, but even in its first iteration, it was very heartening to see it display with the kind of performance you see above.

The game itself : Armagetron is a multiplayer game in 3d that attempts to emulate and expand on the lightcycle sequence from the movie Tron. It's an old school arcade game slung into the 21st century. Highlights include a customizable playing arena, HUD, unique graphics, and AI bots. For the more advanced player there are new game modes and a wide variety of physics settings to tweak as well.<
